It's been a long time coming, and Saturday the South Jefferson Rescue Squad was able to celebrate the official opening of its expanded facility on Main Street in Adams.
The new building provides space for several rescue vehicles and frees up space in the squad's current building.
"It's a nice dream come true to have this finally happen," said Debbie Singleton, the group's executive director.
"We started with just a few volunteers and one ambulance and we'e grown to three ambulances and paramedics," said founding member Bob Simpson. "It's just unbelievable what they've done over the years."
A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held Saturday morning. Work on the project started last summer.
